We will be co-hosting the second installment of Laughter is Medicine on Denman in June of 2025. This time around the focus will be on Indigenous performers doing story-telling and humour.
A day-long workshop offered to students in the University of Victoria field course ‘ES 480: Cultivating Alternatives to the Dominant Order’. The class also visited in the summer of 2023 and 2022.
A gathering of people from the Pacific Northwest, California, Montreal, and Northern BC to celebrate autonomy, share skills, renew old connections, and make new ones.
Along with Kwakwaka’wakw elder Maxine Hayman Matilpi and former K’omoks Chief Nicole Rempel, we hosted Tsalagi Prof. Jeff Corntassel’s class for a weekend of land-based activities.

Help us inaugurate our brand new farm stand on Easter Sunday!
We’ll have farm products and baked goods for sale (eggs, pesto, nuts, sausage rolls, tarts), free treats to share, and a DVD lending library. We’re doing it café-style, so we can sit and chat with our Denman neighbors and visitors. Hope to see you there!
The farm stand will be open from 10 ‘til dusk as usual.
During late 2019 and early 2020 we hosted a group that met monthly to read and discuss texts that were circulating in anarchist milieus. We’re still part of this group, which is now meeting at COHO.
In August 2019 we held an Encuentro to help us establish the Denman Centre for Autonomous Living and Learning (D-Centre). About 30 people attended over a long weekend, mostly from Denman Island and Vancouver Island.
In November 2018 and April 2019 we hosted a horizontal skill-sharing series on food forest design and implementation using permaculture design concepts.
